Message from Chief Scott Routh

On behalf of the members of the Gumtree Fire and Rescue Department I would like to formally welcome you to our Department web site.  We here at the department have a proud tradition of service to the Citizens of the Gumtree community.

As Fire Chief of the Gumtree Fire & Rescue Department, I have the opportunity to serve in a great community with a fine group of men and women. The responsibilities of the Fire Department are constantly changing and have grown from just, "fighting fires". Today, we deliver and serve in an "all risk" capacity and are responding to a much broader range of preventative and emergency response services than ever before.

While we work and carry out our duties to provide for a safe and healthy community, I am constantly reminded of how fragile life is. As a result of the horrific and tragic events on September 11, 2001 in New York and Washington, we all have once again been reminded that the business of protecting life and property has a very high price. Our members' work day and night in harm's way devoted to making each and every one of you safe.

I believe that the men and women serving the Gumtree Fire & Rescue Department do so with courage, energy, and professionalism. I can firmly state that your Fire Department is prepared to meet any challenges the future may bring. I am proud to be your Fire Chief and thank you for taking the time to become familiar with us.

After viewing our web site you will no doubt see that we are a full service professional department dedicated to responding to the needs of our citizens. We are pleased to provide this web site as another tool to provide valuable information to our citizens and visitors.  After touring our site, should you have any questions or comments about the department, please feel free to contact me.

Again, thank you for visiting our site and we would appreciate hearing from you.
